A delegation from the Peace Paths Foundation discusses cooperation and coordination with the local authorities in Al Ghaydah District.

A delegation from the Peace Paths Foundation (PPF) and the #Tarabut project team discussed cooperation and coordination mechanisms with the local authorities in Al Ghaydah District with Mr. Salem Awad Saidan, Director General of Al Ghaydah District in Al Mahrah Governorate.


During the visit, Mr. Obaid Waked, Director of the #Tarabut project, reviewed the project's implementation steps in Al Ghaydah District, one of the project's main districts. He explained the objectives of the #Tarabut project, which aim to engage law enforcement officers, community committees, and neighborhood leaders in community engagement for peace and security, and enhance their effective role in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and community mediation. He explained that the project is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the small grants mechanism of the United Nations Peace Support Facility (PSF) to enhance community engagement, targeting 40 male and female participants from both groups in its first phase in Al Ghaydah District.


For his part, Mr. Saidan expressed his happiness with this intervention to strengthen and build the capacity of neighborhood leaders and committees, and to enhance ties with security and police personnel. He expressed the district's local authorities' willingness to cooperate and facilitate all requirements for the success of the training programs, which will contribute to enhancing the participants' capabilities and their positive role in society. He thanked the Masarat Al-Salam Foundation for their interventions in the district.


The visit was attended by Ms. Intisar Awad, Director of the Women's Development Department in the district, and Ms. Fatima Kalshat, Project Coordinator in Al Mahrah Governorate.
